About us
Forty years of the
same handshake.
GA has been lending, buying, repairing and selling along the Sussex coast since 1984. Six shops, one family, and a counter where nobody has ever been asked to explain themselves.
Who we are
A jeweller that lends, not a lender with a display case.
The order matters. We learned the stones and the metal first, and the lending grew out of it. It is why a piece that is worth more as jewellery than as scrap gets valued that way, and why the person quoting you can tell a re-cut Victorian cushion from a modern brilliant across the counter.
Six shops now trade under the green and gold: Hove, two in Brighton, Worthing, Eastbourne and Hastings. They are still run the way the first one was. Same hours, same answer, same three golden balls hanging outside the door.
Most of our customers are not in crisis. They are self employed and bridging a quiet month, or buying a van, or covering a bill before an invoice clears, or simply clearing a drawer of things nobody in the family will ever wear again. The one thing they all want is for it to be handled quickly and without judgement. That is the entire job.
What we will not do
The promises worth putting in writing.
We will not credit check you
Not at the counter, not online, not ever. Your loan is secured on the item, so your history is irrelevant to us and stays invisible to everyone else.
We will not chase you
If you cannot redeem, the item is sold and the matter ends. No collection agency, no default notice, no letters to your home.
We will not keep your surplus
On loans over £75, if the sale raises more than you owed, the difference is yours. It is the law, and we pay it without being asked.
We will not melt something valuable
If a piece is worth more as jewellery than as gold, we will tell you and pay accordingly, even though scrapping it would be easier for us.
We will not hide the total
The amount, the rate, the term and the full redemption figure are on the agreement before you sign anything. No fees appear later.
We will not ask why
Your reasons are yours. We need identification because we are regulated, and nothing else.
Along the coast
Six shops, one counter.
